WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in the freedom that the Cross brings to our lives. It is the foundation of our salvation, growth, and faith and empowers us to pursue the finishing work of our spiritual lives that Jesus began on the Cross for each one of us. The Cross gives us the power to overcome the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The Cross frees us from the world, the flesh, and the devil. Because we believe the Cross represents the most fundamental element of all our beliefs, we therefore set forth the following that is a guide for members of Freedom in the Cross Ministries.

WE BELIEVE:

We believe in salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Colossians 1:14

In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins:

We believe by Grace are we saved through Faith

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

We believe in sanctification through repentance

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2 Corinthians 7:10

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

 Romans 5:9

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

We believe there are three abodes that believers will inhabit after life on earth

2 Peter 3:13

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Revelation 21:1-4

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

We believe those who do not accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will be cast into hell

Matthew 10:28

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Revelation 20:13-14

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

John 3:17-18

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, which is for all believers

Acts 2:1-4

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Mark 16:17

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Acts 19:6

And when Paul had laid [his] hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

We believe both men and women should dress modestly, especially in God's house

1 Peter 3:3-4

Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

We believe in the demonstrations of the Spirit

Raised hands

1 Timothy 2:8 – I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Clapping

Psalm 47:1 – [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.]] O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

Falling Prostrate

Revelation 1:17 – And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Dancing and Running

Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the LORD [is] a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Psalm 149:3 – Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

Praying together

Luke 1:10 – And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

Skipping

Luke 6:23 – Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward [is] great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Wailing

Romans 8:26-27 –  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

Sing and Shout

Psalm 32:11 – Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all [ye that are] upright in heart.

Falling into a trance

Acts 22:17 – And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

Crying

Psalm 40:1 – [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Stammering lips

Isaiah 28:11 – For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Leaping

Acts 3:8 – And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

We believe in water baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe in communion with God through prayer.
  1. In our own language,
  2. In Holy Ghost tongues,
  3. In Intercession, and
  4. In Travail

Romans 8:26-27

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

Jude 1:20

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Matthew 6:9

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

We believe all scripture is given by inspiration of God

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Peter 2:20-21

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known [it], to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

We believe God wants us to grow into spiritual maturity through a relationship with His Son

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Ephesians 4:13-15

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ:

We believe God is the head of His church

Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Colossians 1:18-19

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fulness dwell;

We believe there is only one mediator between man and God; The Lord Jesus Christ

1 Timothy 2:5

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
